At Eatock, we provide high-quality, practical experiences that make learning more relevant and memorable than indoor-only lessons. LOtC supports a broad and balanced curriculum by using the outdoors to deliver subjects such as: Science, Geography, English. PSHE, RE and Maths etc in a real-world context. Our LOtC lessons foster self-confidence, self-esteem and resilience through hands-on learning. Outdoor Learning develops teamwork, leadership and communication by engaging children in collaborative tasks outside the traditional desk environment. We teach children how to identify, assess and manage risk in a controlled way. LOtC improves fitness levels and emotional well-being, acknowledging that spending time in nature reduces stress and boosts creativity. We foster a sense of responsibility and care for the natural world and the local community. LOtC lessons ensure all pupils, especially those with SEND or from disadvantaged backgrounds, have access to a wealth of ‘first-hand’ experiences including fishing, creating habitits using a range of natural resources, visiting farms, visiting museums, accessing nearby parks and woodland areas.
